Weald Badminton Club (Sidiots)
At St George’s Church Hall 7.30 to 10 pm every Tuesday from September through to the end of April. We are a small, friendly, non-competitive club and accept members over the age of 16 years of any standard, including complete beginners. The Charge is £52 per year, payable in two instalments, and this covers everything including tea and biscuits. Full-time students pay a reduced rate.

Weald Breakfast Club A Breakfast Club for pupils of Weald Pre-School and Weald Primary School started on Monday 15 September 2014. It is open every school day morning at the Pre-School Hall (St George's Church Hall). Children at Weald Primary School will be escorted to school in time for the start of the school day. CAMEO Come And Meet Each Other CAMEO exists to provide a friendly, stimulating and supportive environment for the elderly of Weald who wants to get together with those at a similar stage in life. We usually meet in the new Church Room on the second Monday of each month. We either have a local speaker on a topic of general interest, normally illustrated, a quiz or other activity. We start with a fun game of bingo, playing for eggs, an activity inherited from Darby and Joan which was our predecessor, and finish with tea and cakes. In the Summer we have a few outings and a Holiday at Home. The purpose of this is to provide a break primarily for those who are no longer able to go away on holiday. It consists of three whole days during one week in July, where we provide coffee, lunch and tea and many activities. Co-ordinator: Judith Howard 01732-458285 Deputy Co-ordinator: Shirley Hayes 01732-463554 Treasurer: Moya Grady Plus a team of helpers who give members lifts to and from gatherings, cook cakes and are generally invaluable in helping everything run smoothly. There is no membership fee at present but we ask for £1 each time for tea and cakes.

Weald Cricket Club Weald Cricket club are looking for new members of all ages and abilities. We play in League division 4 of the Kent County Village League. On Sundays, we play against other villages in friendly/recreational fixtures. Nets are now finished for the winter. Fireworks and Bonfire
The Weald Fireworks Committee run the annual bonfire and firework display to provide a splendid display and raise money for local groups.

The Committee welcomes and seeks volunteer help and financial support for the event.

Torch procession will leave the Memorial Hall at 6.30pm Wax torches will be available for sale to adults only, and battery operated lanterns for children.

Tickets on sale at a place to be announced from 23rd October, or available on the night. Adults £7; Children (4 to 16 years) £3

Weald History Group Formed for the enjoyment of our own history
Weald History Group Autumn talks 2017 Tuesday October 24, 8pm start AGM – PLUS wine and nibbles Memorial Hall
Wednesday November 15, 8pm start, Memorial Hall: Mary Smith will tell us about ‘A Schoolgirl’s War’ and introduces it here : “I was headteacher of Maidstone Grammar School for Girls until 2014 and have recently produced a book entitled “A Schoolgirl’s War”. This features the exquisite and highly original artwork of the art teacher at that school during WW2. She set out to document in paint and pencil the lives of school children as the war unfolded. I don’t think there is a similar collection of paintings anywhere. I also contacted 53 “old girls” who were at the school during the war. They shared their fascinating memories and anecdotes with me – which included disrupted schooling, air-raids, doodlebugs, and underground lessons in shelters. My talk would include a selection of these paintings and anecdotes. “

WEALD KEEP-FIT CLASSES
Mondays, at 9.50am in Weald Memorial Hall. Keep-fit is run by Women of Weald for the benefit of everybody; you do not have to be a member to join us (many are not). No Lycra needed, just comfortable clothes. Our instructor is fully qualified in exercise and dance and caters for all ages. Weald Watercolour Workshops
To encourage a love and appreciation of art, learning to see in a new way, and finding one’s own creativity in a friendly environment in the company of like-minded people. All capabilities catered for and we try to give the basics in terms of understanding ways of looking and of techniques and also to learn from each other. Weald Women’s Stoolball Team was established in 2016 and is the first all women sports team in the village for 50 years. A squad of over 25 local women (all ages from teens to the over 50s) play in the West Kent Stoolball League. The league runs from May to July each year with matches every Monday and Wednesday during this time. Home matches are played at the Weald Recreation Ground (by Giacomo’s) on Morleys Road. The current fixture list is set out below and listed on the Events page of this website. [not sure how the fixtures will be listed). The team would encourage villagers and other locals to come along to home games to support the women and to enjoy some great summer evenings in an idyllic spot in the Weald.
