Network Rail’s /Hubbards Hill update
The Parish Council has received the following update from Network Rail relating to the closure of Hubbards Hill Bridge:
I am writing to provide you with an update on the works that we are carrying out at the Sevenoaks Tunnel Cutting, served by our work site just outside of Sevenoaks Weald Village.
Works have been progressing well, with the majority of the work being carried out and completed ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, we have received notification from National Highways that emergency repairs are required on the Hubbards Hill road bridge that crosses the Sevenoaks Bypass (A21). These emergency works mean that we are no longer able to use this route for our works traffic to and from our worksite.
With this in mind, please find the attached residents letter, which will be delivered in the coming days to notify residents about this change of route and the reasons for such changes. Given the progress that has been made by our project teams, you will note that we have been able to limit the disruption of this amended route by stopping the removal of spoil from the site until the works on the bridge have been completed. This will mean that there will be far fewer lorry movements than normal and lorries filled with spoil from the site will not be travelling through Weald Village.
You will see that because of this delay, our completion date has been pushed back to January 2024, but this date will be dependant on the works being carried out by National Highways being completed on time. Our teams will continue to do their best to limit the disruption that these works may cause local residents.
I hope that this letter helps to explain the progress and the next steps for these important works, but if you have any questions, please do let me know and I will be happy to help.
