Surgery

Hildenborough & Tonbridge Medical Group

The history of the practice can be traced back to 1879, when Dr Walter Hardin practised from his house, now known as Chilling House, in Leigh High Street. Dr Hardin was succeeded in 1881 by Dr Fraser, who moved the surgery to Park House, Leigh, where he remained in practice until after the First World War. Several patients still remember “old Dr Fraser”. He was eventually joined by his son, Dr Beaufort Fraser, who came to Hildenborough to live at Mountains, where private patients were seen in the sitting room, and “panel patients” were seen in the servants’ quarters!

Weald Community Shop

The Weald Community shop can be found in The Wesleyan Chapel off The Green.

The Weald Community Shop and Cafe was started in July 2017, after the closure of The Old Bakery, the last shop in the village. With a small army of volunteers, we opened every morning, seven days a week. Under current circumstances, we are open every morning, from Monday to Saturday, closing at midday.

Weald is a village of about 1,200 people lying on the Low Weald, in gentle rolling countryside just south of Sevenoaks, Kent. The village and its surroundings are in the Metropolitan Green Belt and are entirely within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
