Weald Parish Council is happy to report that work to improve the village recreation ground off Morleys Road has begun. Below is the text of a letter being distributed to immediate neighbours and to clubs that sets out the planned programme of works.
From Weald Parish Council
Weald Recreation Ground
Over the course of the next three months (November, 2023 to January, 2024) Weald Parish Council has commissioned contractors to complete work on:
- Installing mains electricity to the Recreation Gound’s Pavilion and Changing Rooms – which currently are powered by an old inefficient diesel fuelled generator.
- Improving the surface of the track leading from Morleys Road to the Recreation Ground – which is currently in very poor condition, and
- Providing off-road parking in a field adjacent to the Recreation Ground for users of the Ground – currently users park around a blind bend on Morleys Road which is dangerous to children and adults using the Ground and to other road users.
The above works are expected to be completed in three phases:
- In the last two weeks in November the electricity cables will be installed along the track up to the Pavilion and Changing Rooms.
- In the first two weeks of December the work on the new surface of the track will be completed.
- In the last two weeks of December (allowing for Christmas and New Year holidays) work on the off-road parking areas will begin and should be completed by mid-January, 2024.
During the works the Parish Council will ensure that the public footpath along the track will be open to public footpath users and the contractors will be required to minimise vehicle movements and noise during the works to reduce any disruption to neighbours close to the works.
Any questions in relation to the above please contact:
